Does long-pulsed neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet work on acne lesions?: management of acne in Asian patients with a combinational laser treatment.

The treatment of acne vulgaris is sometimes very challenging, because of the frequent relapsing courses of flare-ups, and permanent scar issues. With a high prevalence and important social implications, there has been a strong need for therapies which can control flare-ups without serious side-effects.Gemini (Laserscope, San Jose, CA, USA) is a versatile laser system with two hand-pieces emitting long-pulsed 532-nm potassium titanium phosphate (KTP) and 1064-nm neodymium:vttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG). In our clinic, the long-pulsed 532-nm KTP laser has been used in acne patients as it was indicated3'4 and the long-pulsed Nd:YAG ' has been applied for skin tightening. Interestingly, several patients reported unexpected improvement of incidental comedones on their foreheads during long-pulsed Nd:YAG treatment for facial wrinkles.
