Excel Partnership was formed in 1988, by myself and three other Quality Management professionals based in the UK. Geoff Doole had worked in business development for BSI and John Killman as training manager for BSI. I had worked with a small consulting firm and led some of the first companies in the UK to ISO 9000 registration soon after its publication in 1987, and Gordon Staples had worked at a senior level with consulting firms specialising in Quality improvement.
