摘要

Bronchiolitis is the leading cause of hospitalization for US infants and is usually caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) or human rhino virus (HRV). These early-life viral infections are associated with the development of recurrent wheezing and asthma. While the primary focus of research on the development of wheezing and asthma has been on viruses, there is increasing evidence that bacteria also play a role in asthma pathogenesis.
