THE EFFECT OF FEEDING CRACKED EGG ON FEED INTAKE, EGG PRODUCTION AND FEED CONVERSION IN LAYING HENS

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of cracked egg supplement as alternative protein sources on feed intake, egg production, live weight and nutrient digestibility of poultry. At 56 weeks of age, 30 Hyline (W-377) laying pullets were distributed randomly (1 pullets per cage) in individual 45x45x35 cm cages of 10 pullets for treatment. Cracked egg was used as protein supplement. Isocaloric and isonitrogenous diets Soybean meal plus 3 25% cracked egg and Soybean meal plus 7,50% cracked egg were prepared besides the control feed wihtout cracked egg. Feed and water were provided ad libitum throughout the two months period. Feed samples were analysed for proximate composition according to the methods outlined in the AOAC (1975). Metabolisable energy was calculated.
