Open Reduction and Internal Fixation with Locking T-Plates for the Stabilisation of Unstable Metaphyseal Radial Fractures in Dogs

Six cases of unstable metaphyseal radial fractures in dogs were subjected to open reduction and internal fixation using locking T' plates using AO principles of fixation. Two cases were stabilized using buttress and four cases were stabilized with compression technique. Primary bone healing was observed in four cases and secondary bone healing was observed in two cases by 45th post operative day. The functional outcome was graded excellent in three cases, good in two cases and poor in one case. In the present study, functional outcome was directly influenced by stability of fixation.
