COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TOTAL AND DIFFERENTIAL LEUCOCYTIC COUNT IN VARIOUS PHYSIOLOGICAL STATES IN SAHIWAL COWS

The study of total and differential leucocytic count, if properly interpreted, are of value in diagnosis and aid in making a more accurate prognosis (Coles, 1986) in various pathological conditions. Such studies in various indigenous cattle breeds of India are scanty. Sahiwal is one of the best milch breeds of India. The haematological picture and chemistry of blood alters during different stages of growth and development (Schaffer at al., 1981). There is no published report on the total leucocytic count and differential leucocytic count in various physiological states in these animals. The present study was undertaken to get a correct picture of total leucocytic count and differential leucocytic count in Sahiwal cows under various physiological states.
