Estrus detection by serum progesterone concentration in buffaloes.

The aim of this study is to assess the oestrus status in buffaloes presented for artificial insemination (AI) based on their serum progesterone concentration. 86 buffaloes were used in this study and were divided equally into two groups. After enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was conducted, results showed that out of the 86 animals, 39 (45.35%) had a serum concentration of < 1.0 ng/ml. The remaining 47 (54.65%) had progesterone levels of > 1.00 ng/ml.
