The soft fruit industry has been through a difficult time in recent years. Changing weather conditions, environmental concerns and the continued strain on the economy have all been challenges. But do we really know what the big issues are? Sharpak Aylesham conducted a survey at Fruit Focus 2013. Given the recent pressure that the sector has been under, it is easy to assume what the answers would be. Interestingly, the main response was not the weather, or a demand for lower pricing, but a need for innovation.
