WOMEN AND HERBS: Healing and history from the goddess tradition to the 21st Century

Since the beginning of time, from prehistoric rites to modern medication, women have looked to the colorful, fragrant world of plants in search of health, fertility, and beauty. Women learned of the healing powers of many herbs through the accumulatedknowledge of the centuries, (and, perhaps, through an intuitive connection with plants), passing down the various rituals and preparations specific to their part of the world for the following generations to enjoy. Like many aspects of women's history,this proved no easy feat, and those wise women who attempted to continue the practice of herbal healing often faced persecution and even death. Modern society, thankfully, has seen -much improvement concerning the rights pond roles of women (of course, there's sti11 work to be done). As herbs continue fo prove their worth in today's world, we celebrate the history of those women who helped contribute to this rich legacy.
