Automatic nesting CAD/CAM software plays a critical role in the success of any plasma, laser, oxyfuel, or waterjet cutting operation. Proper software selection allows the fabricator to achieve the highest level of productivity and cost-efficiency by optimizing material utilization as well as machine throughput. Functional requirements of a modern automatic nesting CAD/CAM solution are highlighted. The relationship between software functionality and machine productivity are emphasized, and plasma-specific examples are used.
