The fact that most growers have experienced a dreadful season this year did not prevent over 200 delegates from attending the British Leafy Salads Conference in Peterborough last month. The conference was held at the KingsGate Conference Centre, a newvenue for the BLSA and one that certainly found favour with those attending. Papers given at the conference included an update on the work on minimising nitrate levels in salad crops, the current situation regarding the use of peat in horticulture, together with a glimpse into the way salads are being produced using 'growing towers.'
