Former Cotton Ginning Leader Alf Pendleton Dies at 94

A MEMORIAL SERVICE was held Sept.4 in Dallas for Alfred M.(Alf)Pendleton,94,the first cotton ginning specialist for USDA's Federal Extension Service.A native of Farmersville,TX,and a graduate of Texas A&M University,Pendleton died in Dallas on Aug.21.He was employed by USD A from 1943 until his retirement in 1972.During that tenure,he headed up the USDA's educational programs in cotton harvesting and ginning and,in so doing,served as a consultant to all State land grant universities on cotton educational programs.He also was a leader in organizing and conducting cotton ginners' schools and educational programs throughout the Cotton Belt.
