This edition of The Clinical Teacher offers you the usual cornucopia, with papers addressing aspects of teaching, Learning and assessment, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with contributions from across the globe. There are, as always, several themes running through and linking the papers. One is to do with how we help students negotiate the many transitions they are required to make during their time in training. These can be difficult and anxiety-provoking, and historically we have perhaps not done as much as we could have to support and guide students through them. Two such areas are dealt with by papers in this issue, namely the transition from school to university, and that from the ward environment into the operating theatre.
