摘要

In the November issue, we looked at how flighty or ag-gressive cattle can be more difficult and dangerous to handle. Studies during the past decade have shown that "wild" cattle don't gain as well in the feedlot, have higher incidence of dark cuttersand are less likely to allow feedlot cowboys to determine when they are sick. Additional research indicates that cows with bad dispositions have lower conception and calving rates. Dr. Reinaldo Cooke and Dr. David Bohnert at Oregon State University havestudied temperament's effect on reproduction.
