New trends in electronic component mounter/inserter technology

Japanese Robotics Industry registered production of ￥620 billion/y, largest in the past to show recovery of business, however, a half of which was recorded as production of electronic component mounters, and inserters. Some European engineers criticize the statistic saying an electronic component mounter is not a robot, but a manipulator, so robot population in Japan should be decreased to a half. But Japanese robotic industry classify electric component mounter in robots. Technology of the electronic component mounter is now entering a new phase. Such trends are created by a movement to meet with requirements from miniaturization in mobile electronic devices.
