This article describes the upcoming development of a parametric-optical laser measurement system for characterization of surfaces inline some production process. The measurement system is based on previously known approaches for characterization of specular surfaces using coherent light and auto-correlation on the resulting speckle intensity distribution. In order to apply these methods inline, a significantly increased measurement rate has to be reached, compared to existing solutions. This shall be achieved by modifications of the measurement process, use of hardware acceleration for image capturing and processing, and optimization of the processing algorithms.
