RAPTORS ARE KEY TO SUCCESSFUL EUROPEAN ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Raptors are key to successful European environ- mental policy. A report published in Ambio details the strategic role raptors play in the fulfillment of European Union (EU) environmental policy goals, especially those related to biodiversity and pollution. Although there are numerous factors to be considered when environmental policies are developed, raptors are a particularly useful barometer. By monitoring raptor behavior, researchers are able to make connections between how raptors are affected by environmental factors and how these factors in turn affect society as a whole.
