Clariant says it has added polyetheramines to its industrial and consumer specialities chemicals portfolio, and built a reactor at its nitril-amine plant at Gendorf, Germany to support their production. Polyetheramines are used in agricultural chemical formulations, the preparation of polyureaand modified urethane resins, as intermediates for textile and paper treating chemicals and as epoxy curing agents. Polymeric derivatives can be used as dispersants in paints, concrete, fuels and lubricants. Clariant will initially focus on existing customers in crop protection and construction. Huntsman and BASF also produce polyetheramines.
