Emerging trends: distance learning

This past spring, Brian Martin and John Neyhart, both agriculture instructors at Monmouth County Career Center in Freehold, New Jersey, taught courses to more than 40 students spread out among three area schools with agricultural education programs.During April and May, Martin and Neyhart team-taught a horticulture unit via distance technology to students at Freehold High School in Freehold, NJ, Allentown High School in Allentown, NJ, and Monmouth County Career Center, also in Freehold. With a little technological wizardry, they were able to get the phone lines working, the cameras rolling and the monitors displaying pictures. And for the most part, the students loved this new delivery system.
