Bayer Builds Eco-Friendly Chlorine Plant in Germany

Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) has confirmed that it will build a chlorine plant based on com- mon salt. The plant will be designed to produce 20,000 m.t./year of chlorine and be constructed at the company's Krefeld-Uerdingen, Germany site. The plant will be the first to use BMS's oxy- gen depolarized cathode (ODC) technology, using electrolysis cells provided by Uhdenora. Uhde will build the plant for completion in the first half of 2011.
