DETERMINATION OF TOTAL BASE NUMBER OF USED LUBRICATING OILS FROM MARINE ENGINES BY POTENTIOMETRIC TITRATION

摘要

A modification of the IP 276-83-ASTM D2896-92 standardized method for the determination of the total base number of petroleum products is described. This method allows this determination in used lubricating oils from marine engines, which was not possible with the standardized procedure. It shows a better precision, shorter voltage stabilizing time and in many instances avoids back titration. It can be suggested as an alternative to ASTM-IP methods. [References: 11]
