Lanxess says it will invest ?20 million ($24.6 million) to expand capacity of its Zwijndrecht, Belgium butyl rubber plant by 14,000 m.t./year, to about 150,000 m.t./year. Completion is expected in the second quarter of 2012. "Overall demand for butyl rubber has returned to pre-crisis levels already this year," says Axel C. Heitmann, chairman of Lanxess.
