Reliance Industries reports fall in profits

Reliance Industries says net profits for the company’s fiscal third quarter, ended 31 December 2014, decreased 4.5% compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year, to about 52.56 billion Indian rupees ($848 million). Third-quarter sales decreased 20.4%, to Rs963.3 billion. Reliance’s petrochemicals business’s third-quarter sales decreased 15.2% compared with the year-ago period, to Rs230.0 billion, with Ebit down 2.4%, to Rs20.6 billion. Petrochemical sales decreased partly due to lower product prices, Reliance says.
