Reliance Industries reports fall in quarterly profits

Reliance Industries says net profits for the company's fiscal third quarter, ended 31 December 2014, decreased 4.5% compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year, to about 52.6 billion Indian rupees ($854.0 million). Third-quarter sales decreased 20%, to RS963.3 billion. Reliance's petrochemicals business's third-quarter sales decreased 15% compared with the year-ago period, to RS230.0 billion, with Ebit down 2.4%, to RS20.6 billion. Petrochemical sales decreased partly because of lower product prices, Reliance says.
