We read with interest the article about surgical treatment of rectal prolapse with the Delorme procedure by Lieberth et al. Based on the results of their retrospective review of 76 patients, the investigators recommended the Delorme repair to a larger number of patients, not only to the elderly and those at high risk for surgery. Nevertheless, they reported a recurrence rate of 14.5% and an overall complication rate of 25%, which is noteworthy.
