This book offers a sound account of cyber bullying. It covers the prevalence of this type of attack and what can be done to combat the problem. The work gives an overview of the latest research presented in a form that is easy to assimilate and adapt for use in developing preventative measures. It is essential that all understand the negative effects of cyber bullying as many children feel unprepared and unprotected. Those who were in a position to help were often less au fait with this new technology than the young people involved, which is one reason why the young have been reluctant to turn to adults for help. The book outlines how students can protect themselves and how schools, parents and carers can address the problem. The one drawback I would note is that the book is written by American authors. There have been recent developments in the UK to address cyber bullying by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the Police Service and other bodies. There are websites that all can access for advice and support. Recently introduced are commercial systems that can be set up throughout a school to scan for any untoward cyber message. These have cut markedly the incidence of cyber bullying in schools. The later section on legislation and policies relates solely to the USA.
