Bangtai breaks ground on elastane plant

Baoding, Hebei-Bangtai Polymeric New Materials broke ground in March 2015 on a new plant with 50kT/year melt spun elastane chip and 30kT/year elastane fibre capacities at Mancheng Economic Zone in Baoding, Hebei province. According to the local government, the new plant covers 200,000 m~2 and total investments is likely to be RMBl.6bn ($258m). The company aims to build the new plant into Asia's largest melt spun elastane manufacturing base, and has signed contract with China Textile Academy to develop upstream and downstream technologies.
