Delhi - Mudumbai Sarangapani, a pioneer of the Indian polyurethane industry died earlier this year, aged 82. Sarangapani initiated use of rigid polyurethane foam insulation for the twin door units of refrigerators in India, and also developed PU-based rotor blades for helicopters. He set up the U-Foam operation and became convener for Indian standards for the cellular foams sector.
