Big prospects on a solid basis

Socialist Republic of Vietnam is one of the most prospective trade partners of Ukraine in Southern-Eastern Asia. Traditional economic ties created between Ukraine and Vietnam back in the times of the USSR make a solid basis for development of partnership. According to the results of 2002, the general volumes of bilateral trade between our countries reached USD 230.35 mn exceeding the figures of the previous year by 195 percent. Import from Vietnam herewith constituted USD 36.1 mn while Ukrainian export to Vietnam made USD 194.25 mn. Base metals and articles, fertilizers, transportation vehicles, machines, and equipment make the leading group of Ukrainian export to Vietnam. These staples comprise 93.3 percent of the total Ukrainian export to this country. Such commodities as Ukrainian metal articles, fertilizers, industrial equipment, and pharmaceuticals have the biggest chances to expand export to Vietnam.
