CLEAN COAL'S 60,000 JOBS

A NEW Energy Bill which will strengthen the UK's leadership position in the development of clean coal technologies that, over the next 20 years, could bring up to 4 billion pounds a year into the national economy and support up to 60,000 jobs, is being debated in parliament, writes STUART OLIVER. Announced in the Queen's Speech setting out details of the Government's legislative programme in the run-up to the next General Election, the Energy Bill, once approved, will confirm the incentives to support the construction of up to four commercial-scale carbon capture and storage demonstration projects in the UK - measures likely to generate up to 9.5 billion pounds over a 20 year period.
