In West, 1~(st) half 2004 production up from 2~(nd) half 2003 yield

Hey, second quarter MSHA data is out, and excitement abounds! Overall, the West is producing at an annual rate of 524 million tons/year. Production in the first half of 2004 was up 12.8 million tons over the first half of 2003, and second quarter production beat first quarter production by 1.6 million tons. Before you get too excited, the West has been producing at a 130 million to 132 million tons/quarter rate for four quarters now. so any improvement over 2003 production has probably already happened. Still, 524 million tons is a nice improvement over the 510 million to 512 million tons/year we have been looking at since 2001.
