Southern Company issues RFP for coal to supply Georgia Power's NS-served plants

Southern Company Services, as agent for Georgia Power, is in the market for the utility's long-term coal requirements for Norfolk Southern-delivered plants Hammond, Wansley and Yates. Proposals are due September 23. Bids will be evaluated based on two proposals. Proposal A (up to 900,000 tons) will be for a term of January 2009 through December 2009. Proposal B (up to 1 million tons/year) will be for a term of two years beginning January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2011.
