Big Peabody post-scrubber deal highlights TVA Board approvals

TVA. which is in the term market for both 2 million tons/year of compliance coal and 2 million tons/year of high-sulfur coal, while also trolling around for offshore supplies, has been busy on other fronts as well, including completion of a massive contract with Peabody for post-scrubber, high-sulfur coal that has sort of slipped beneath the radar. Last month, TVA acknowledged that it has been notified of problems with three of its coal suppliers. That would include well-documented concerns in Colorado, which likely have eased considerably, or will soon, as well as a loss of low-sulfur supplies from Illinois.
