Companies to be hit, some perhaps fatally, as high-priced contracts expire at year's end

Many small coal companies that aren't taking advantage of high-priced contracts agreed to last year will suffer greatly in 2010, and the result may be fatal for a significant number of operators. That's one of a number of observations and opinions revealed at the North Carolina Coal Institute's fall meeting, where buyers and producers gathered recently for golf, good food and camaraderie.
