It's August, the season of huge open-air music festivals, concerts and sporting events, from the V Festival and Glyndebourne, to sailing at Cowes and Test match cricket. These events are hugely enjoyable for all those that attend, but their staging can consume large amounts of resources, increase emissions of greenhouse gases, generate vast amounts of waste, and some?times even have negative impacts on their local communities.
