I read the article "Over to you" (January QW) with interest, excitement and some frustration. I have been a quality professional for 30 years involved in quality control and quality assurance working in manufacturing, design and development and service industries.First, what does quality mean? I have asked this for years and get a variety of interpretations depending on who you ask. The worst came from a line manager: "That's what you do, isn't it?"ISO 9001 does not help. From the 2000 version it should have been called a business management system and owned by all managers, not just the quality manager. After all, there is nothing magical about the standard, it is just documented good business practice.
