Growth in the service sector reaches new high

The UK service sector has expanded at its fastest rate since September 2007, according to data from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply/Markit business activity index.The index asks service organisations to report on improvement or deterioration on the previous month. October saw a reading of 55.3, an increase from the previous 54.1. Growth has now been sustained for five successive periods - a reading of more than 50 indicates growth.
