Protecting the public As the Healthy and Safety Executive's director of field operations, I read Anthony Taylor's letter entitled " Crazy safety culture" (September QW), with some dismay. The HSE was not set up as an "ad?versarial enforcement agency" as the author suggests, but to try and prevent death, injury and illness in the UK's workplaces.
