A group of queasy-looking students arriving at the copper coloured Manufacturing Institute in Manchester signalled the beginning of IQA's World Quality Day celebrations. The six students vying for the IQA National Award had arrived to present their projects, each one investigating a particular quality conundrum, from the implementation of clinical governance within dentistry to re-engineering several quality management systems to create a global QMS - the catch was that they had just 20 minutes to make their case to the panel. The judges themselves had only a few hours to decide on the winner, who would be announced at the main event that evening.
