Two of the three largest advertising companies in the world believe global advertising spending next year will grow by 5-6% beyond this year's level, according to a Wall Street Journal story. GroupM forecast 4.6% growth to $531 billion and Zenith Optimedia 5.3%. They are the No. 1 and 3 largest ad companies in the world, respectively. The growth stems from added advertising from the Winter Olympics, World Cup Soccer, mid-term US elections, and mobile applications... In the aftermath of a partial US government shutdown earlier this year, the US House of Representatives approved a two-year budget framework on Dec. 12 that is expected to be approved by the US Senate next week, reports said on Dec. 13. Under the two-year budget, the threat of another shutdown is eliminated... China's challenges to the World Trade Organization about some US import duties, including on coated printing and writing paper sheets, excludes US duties on lightweight thermal coated papers, an official with Appvion said.
