The governor of Washington State will attend a Nov. 1 ribbon cutting for Nippon Paper's $85 million, 20-MW biomass cogeneration plant at its directory paper mill in Port Angeles, according to a local press report. Tests on the new plant, which upgrades a 1950s-era cogen boiler and doubles biomass capacity, have been ongoing since late August, the Peninsula Daily News reported. It is expected to come online by mid-November and supply local power after two months.
