Sonoco announced the launch of a "new, responsive corporate website that provides better access to visitors on tablets and mobile phones," the company said this week. "As a company, given our focus on driving innovation throughout our organization, we see this new responsive website as a natural way to provide better access to information about our products and services, career opportunities, and investor relations," said Sonoco pres/CEO Jack Sanders said in a release. Sonoco VP for Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs Roger Schrum said more than 15% of the firm's website visitors are on-mobile devices. "As we continue to see mobile usage trends change and evolve, we wanted to choose a mobile-friendly solution that would grow with Sonoco's stakeholders," Schrum said. He added that the website "resizes based on a website visitor's screen resolution, allowing access no matter your device." The site also allows for "increased social sharing capabilities," the company said... Huhtamaki, with its large Chinet tableware business in the USA, acquired BCP Fluted Packaging of Blackburn, Lancashire, UK, for Euro 20 million. BCP specializes in corrugated packaging for the foodservice, confectionery, and cosmetics markets.
