Appieton Coated acquired in management buyout; 'no changes,' owners say

Appieton Coated's 400,000 tons/yr Combined Locks coated and uncoated freesheet mill in Wisconsin was acquired by Virtus Holdings LLC, a new company formed by members of Appieton Coated's management team. The deal was announced on Dec. 19. The mill will continue to operate under the Appleton Coated name, with no substantial business, personnel, or operational changes planned for the immediate Mure, the firm said in a release. "We are excited about our plans for the future of the company and are very grateful to our customers, suppliers, and employees who have stood with us through the sales process," stated Appleton Coated CEO Doug Osterberg.
