Tembec said it gained C$ 15 million from the sale of about 43,700 acres of land in the regional district of East Kootenay, BC, to Jemi Fibre Corp. The deal was first announced in late April. The transaction is the first part of a two-phase sale. The second phase is expected to occur in September and involves the sale of about 78,600 acres to Jemi for C$20 million... The Georgia Institute of Technology received a $43.6 million from the Institute of Paper Chemistry Foundation (IPCF) for its Renewable Bioproducts Institute. "Through the Renewable Bioproducts Institute, we will maximize Georgia Tech's and the state of Georgia's strengths in sustainability and innovation to develop real-world applications as well as educate the next generation of leadership in the forest and bioproducts industry," said Georgia Tech pres G.P. "Bud" Peterson, in a release.
