Cham Paper Group closes remaining specialty PM 5 in Switzerland

The Swiss specialty paper manufacturer Cham Paper Group has stopped its paper production activities in its home country. On March 25, the firm idled the remaining PM 5 at its site in Cham. Following a strategic review, Cham Paper decided in November 2011 to relocate its paper production to the eurozone.The firm planned to start the production of specialty papers for the tobacco industry, which used to be produced in Switzerland, at its site in Carmignano, Italy, by April this year. In late June last year, the firm idled the first paper machine, PM 4, at the Cham site. Now, all production of specialty papers for the tobacco industry is taking place at the firm's site in Carmignano, Italy According to a spokesperson for the Cham Paper Group, the Italian facility was already producing innerliner paper when the Cham PM 5 was idled.
