Consolidation necessary

WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUTURE of European paper producers and magazine and newsprint publishers. UPM is in the process of buying Myllykoski's magazine and newsprint paper assets...but what if the European Commission says no to the necessary consolidation in the paper industry? Banning a vital step toward industry restructuring would limit companies' possibilities to cope with future challenges. It would also be a clear indication that paper production cannot be a healthy business in Europe.
