A mill's responsibility does not end once it makes the product.Damaged rolls are a costly proposition.Generally, rolls of board and paper are wrapped in kraft or film to protect them from the mechanical and climatic stresses during the trip from the mill or converter to the end user.Roll wrapping is the only process of providing the roll with protection over which the mill has complete control.New developments in kraft- and film-based wrapping methods are direct results of the search for solutions to real issues and problems. Two of the most popular wrapping methods today are overlap wrapping and cross-feed kraft wrapping.A third option, film wrapping, previously only used for wrapping specialty papers, board, and tissue and sheeter parent rolls has become firmly established for wrapping (rolled) fluff pulp,as shown by the number of new film wrapper installations during the last four years.
