Studies on the reduction of coefficient of variation: A case study

It is discussed that in spinning mills, quality of yarn being the final product, is important as it influences the quality of subsequent products that are based on it. Hence, the linear density, the important parameter of yarn is required to be maintained well within the specified norms. In this regard, the yarn making process is described and the samples to be considered for analysis are discussed. By collecting necessary data, nested analysis of variance (ANOVA) models and coefficient of variation along with Duncan's multiple range test are used in the analyses. It is observed that the proposed method that performs step-by-step analysis of linear density of yarn helps to identify the sources that influence variation.
