STYRENE AND POLYSTYRENE prices are nudging up a bit after a 50% plunge between last summer and the early months of this year. But this is due more to rising feedstock costs and production cutbacks than any real improvement in demand. In fact, demand for polystyrene in North America is currently depressed, especially in the housing and construction sectors, and is likely to remain that way at least until the end of the year, when a slow recovery may get underway.
