In addition to their teaching, research, and community service roles, faculty members of schools of public health (SPHs) can contribute to better health by exerting their influence to assure effective public health policy. Many decision makers who are authorized to make public health policy welcome the expertise of such faculty in guiding them through the formulation, implementation, and modification processes, as described in an article by Longest and Huber.
